I started going to passion when I was 11 or 12 and it was a great place to chill with my friends. All the workers there seemed to be on our level. I've been part of a lot of community activities, such as open days within the club and setting up and taking down stalls for the local summer and winter carnivals. I've even shown the mayor around the club! When Vicky suggested setting up the community cafe, I was well up for it!! I learned so much from this. I was able to complete a food hygiene level 2 and I even had barista training. I have gained customer service experience because of the community cafe. Passion has really helped me build confidence. After my exams I have since gone to college and have a part time job, so I don't work in the cafe anymore, but I still like to go in every Saturday to say hello. Passion is the best!

Our son has been attending the Passion Cafe for approximately a year. During this time, we have noticed big changes in him and his personality. At Passion he has learnt to get hands on with preparing and cooking food, taking orders from customers and delivering food to their tanks in a polite and courteous manner. This has also given him confidence to engage with adults in a more mature manner. All of this has helped to improve his self-confidence. In addition to working at Passion he receives one-to-one mentoring from Vicki Gould, who on a weekly basis meets with him either in our home or more often she takes him to a local cafe for coffee and cake (which he loves), where they chat for about an hour about his day and the past week since their last meet. This has further helped with his ability to communicate at a more mature level with adults. His teachers at school have also told us that his behaviour is changing at school in a positive way during this same period. Altogether as parents we are really grateful for the support provided to our son by Vicki and the opportunity given to him to work at Passion.
